Cedric Fernando, MD, Occupational Health Department Medical Director

Cedric Fernando, MD, is the medical director in the occupational health department of Unicoi County Memorial Hospital, in which role he performs occupational health physicals and conducts all aspects of workplace drug testing, including medical review officer services. Additionally, Cedric Fernando, MD, has spent over 25 years as an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Family Medicine at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine.

A native of Sri Lanka, Cedric Fernando, MD, completed his undergraduate studies at the University of California Los Angeles and then attended the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in the West Indies. Subsequently, he completed an internship and residency in family medicine at the East Tennessee State University James H. Quillen College of Medicine. In a career spanning 40 years, Dr. Fernando has owned a private practice and served as a corporate physician for local industries. He also has overseen an emergency room and acted as the hospital chief of staff at Unicoi County Memorial Hospital in Erwin Tennessee

Strongly committed to the well-being of his patients, Dr. Fernando has volunteered his time by providing physicals for ROTC students and local athletes, and he has also donated time and services to seniors and the migrant worker community.
